Older Driver Assessment
At THERAPRISE, your life journey is our purpose.
For older drivers where a medical condition or age-related change may be affecting safe driving. A supportive assessment that helps you keep driving where it’s safe to do so — often with a conditional licence.

Whats Involved
In Victoria, there’s no driving test at a set age. You can keep driving for as long as you’re medically safe to do so. From age 75, you’re offered a three-year licence renewal cycle — a regular prompt to consider whether anything about your health has changed.
An occupational therapy driving assessment helps when a medical condition or an age-related change — in vision, memory, reaction time, movement or confidence — may be affecting safe driving. Your GP, VicRoads Medical Review, or a family member may suggest one.
The goal is to keep you driving safely and independently for as long as possible. Many drivers continue after an assessment, sometimes with a conditional licence — for example, driving within your local area, in daylight, or with simple vehicle modifications.
The assessment has two parts at its core: an off-road clinical session, and an on-road drive with your occupational therapy driving assessor (OTDA) and a specialist driving instructor. We then report to your GP and, where relevant, VicRoads Medical Review, with clear recommendations.
An assessment isn’t about taking your licence away. It’s about giving you, your family and your doctor an objective picture — and a plan to keep you mobile in a safe way.
National fitness-to-drive standards are reviewed from time to time and requirements can change. We stay current with Victorian requirements, so you don’t have to.
